Hot buttered rum
Mix ahead and allow to steep. Wonderful for those wintery evenings - especially the outdoors.
1 cup brown sugar
2-3 tablespoons butter
pinch salt
2 sticks cinnamon
3 whole cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1.4 litres (3 pints) of hot water
2 cups rum
Put all ingredients in crockpot, stir well.
Cover and cook on high for 2 hours, then low from 3-10 hours.
Serve from the crockpot in warm mugs. 12-15 servings.

Fresh corn on the cob
Usually 6-8 ears will fit best.
Remove the silks but leave the green outer husks on the ears and cut the ends off - so the corn will fit into the crockpot.
Wash thoroughly, place in crockpot.
Cover and cook on high for 45 minutes, turn to low for 1.5-2 hours.
Remove husk and serve.
